A DIY Conservatory is a high value item compared to the usual purchases which are made over the internet it is therefore always worth taking a few moments to consider any issues which may have an effect on its construction, impact on your garden space and also the end use for the conservatory.
The positioning of DIY conservatories also has an effect on the specification you may require, due to the differing amounts of direct sunlight through the day/year.

Swift DIY Conservatory Solutions would always encourage you to mark out the perimeter of the conservatory in the garden, this will then give you a feel for the impact it will have on your outdoor space. Try to visualise the position of the doors leading from the conservatory. This is essential to maximise the living space within the conservatory whilst allowing you the best possible access to the garden. On dwarf wall model conservatories, the inner walls will reduce the internal floor width by approximately 400mm, and depth by 200mm. This is worth considering when you are deciding on your furnishings for the conservatory.
Below are drawings and descriptions of our most popular DIY Conservatory models. This will help you decide the appropriate model to suit your requirements, enhance your living area and also complement your property.
Victorian Conservatory
|
Probably the oldest designed conservatory style but still a very popular choice, with its pleasing aesthetic appearance and elegant styling. However one point to consider with this design is the loss of internal floor area. |
Wide Bay Victorian Conservatory
|
A wide bay Victorian is a modern day solution to the equally faceted Victorian, giving a greater area of floor space but keeping the aesthetic appeal. Also available in a double hipped version for fitting to properties with height restrictions. |
Traditional Lean-To / Sun Lounge Conservatory
|
The square fronted design of the Lean-To conservatory will give you the maximum amount of floor area whilst still maintaining modern day styling. A standard roof pitch of 2.5 or 5 degree is available with the flexibility of attaching to side walls or wrapping around corners. |
Edwardian Conservatory
|
The Edwardian has all the benefits of the square fronted Lean-To but with the added feature of the pitched roof. This is probably the most popular style of conservatory on sale today, with roof pitches available from 17.5 to 35 degrees. |
Gullwing Conservatory
|
The Gullwing design gives you the same aesthetic appeal as the Victorian conservatory but with a lot more flexibility. It is not uncommon to see these types of conservatories extend 9 to 10 metres across the back of properties. |
Hipped Lean-To Conservatory
|
The hipped Lean-To Conservatory has all the flexibility and features of the Gullwing model but with the added benefit of a greater floor area. This design also lends its self to wrapping around corner situations. |
Pavillion Conservatory
|
The Pavilion Conservatory or Gable End as its also known is an alternative to the Edwardian Conservatory. Available with a multitude of different gable designs, ranging from straight mullions, to the more elaborate Sunburst Pavilion option. |
P Shaped Conservatory
|
P Shape Conservatories combines either a Victorian, Edwardian or Pavilion Conservatry with a Lean-To conservatory. These types of conservatories are classed as the most aesthetically and versatile conservatories on the market. With this design and flexibility, it’s possible to have a dining area at one end and a relaxing living area at the other. |
The above conservatory models are all suitable for fitting to properties where there is a limited or height restriction. The height restrictions can be caused by any number of reasons but with the flexibility of the roof system the majority of these problems can be overcome.
Above are a just few of the bespoke designed conservatories available through Swift Conservatory Solutions Ltd, ranging from ¾ walls, full or part side walls, raised box gutters, box gutters cutting around chimney breasts, the list is endless.
